Cecily has been in private practice for more than 20 years at the Christiaan Barnard Memorial Hospital as part of the multi-disciplinary practice at Life Centre.
She has worked in a variety of different fields of nutrition and dietetics, including clinical and community nutrition, research, teaching and education, as well as consulting to various food and other health-related industries.
She has also edited and contributed to several books and co-authored the sport’s nutrition book “Eating for Sport”.
Cecily has a special interest in the role that diet and exercise play in both the prevention and treatment of lifestyle-related diseases such as overweight, hypercholesterolemia, diabetes mellitus and cancer.
She is also part of several multi-disciplinary teams and sees both in- and out-patients requiring nutritional support for the management of HIV, wound healing, heart and kidney transplants and intragastric balloon procedure for weight loss, and is also trained as an Optifast dietitian.
